Making a pigs foot out of myself wants me to extract revenge: Masamune-kun no Revenge first impressions

Hey up folks, sorry about the long-winded title. And my bad for not putting anything up for the last couple of days. Yup another seasonal first impression this. This time on Masaumne revenge.

Masamune revenge or Masamune-kun no Revenge follows the titular character as he tries to extract revenge on the high school elite and the ever popular girl he knew back in his childhood days Aki “the brutal princess” Adagaki .

The reason Masamune wants to exact revenge is because Aki gave him a nickname. A very unpleasant one; pigs foot. You see when he was a kid; he was a spoilt (but kind), over-weight chubby kid. Who used to get picked on by everyone. He befriended the lonely Aki. Aki comes from a super rich family. So this gives her this air of superiority. However all it really did was isolate her from everyone else. Armed with a sharp tongue and a feisty personality this made it even harder for her to make new friends. The only friend she has is her maid Yoshino Koiwai. Who is treated cruelly by Aki. Also Aki has a massive appetite.

The reason why Aki has that nickname is because she callously dumps guys who try to date her. Because of that horrible nickname Masamune left her. That was 8 years ago. Fast forward to present day. Masamune now being slender, tall and more importantly handsome. Comes back in to Aki’ life. With a new goal; to get his revenge on her.

The show is your typical; over the top, exaggerated, over dramatic, romance high school drama. You can see what the demographics it aims at by comparing it to another high school romance show; scums wish. Masamune-kun no revenge is aimed at younger teens. As it uses strong, bold colours. With cute, over the top characterisation. Of course it has the usual clichéd tropes. Not to mention the anime is very predictable.

Scums wish explores sexuality and different types of relationships. Whilst Masamune just deals with your every day high school life. With getting the girl at the end. It does have its comical moments, but other than that. Nothing really notable. Wait…there is a trap.

It does nothing different to any other high school, romance shows out there. Oh I forgot as well Masamune looks like Kirito. Just saying. And what the hell is with Masamune’ mother??. She looks like a freaking 5 year old. Anime logic.

the first impression of this anime:

Overall impression: okay – avg

masamune revenge 1

masamune revenge 2

Alternatives: a more mature, darker tale of romance then scums wish. Otherwise pick any other show that falls under this genre.

What are your impression of the anime?. Have you seen this anime, or do you plan to?. Let me down in the comment section!!.

  1. I wasn’t sold on the premise of another miracle weight loss personality transformation show so the first episode of this kind of didn’t do much for me, plus the goal of revenge over something like being called a name (you know, she didn’t blow up his home or something) just seemed to incredibly petty so I just didn’t watch the next episode.

    1. Yup it is petty. Losing weight should be done for one reason; yourself. I gave it the three episode rule (like with most of the shows i watch). And well it’s pretty average.

      1. It is getting some quite mixed reviews with some people finding it really entertaining and others bein fairly meh about it. But nothing I’ve read about it has really convinced me that it is my kind of show so I’m probably not going to give it a second go.
